A Complex Client-Server Application

Nippon Sheet Glass Co is a leading provider of industrial glass products. It sells its products through a chain of distributors. The pricing and configuration of these glass products is highly complex and required a client-server application to run at each distributor.

This complex application, called Glazier, was expensive to maintain and limited Nippon Sheet Glass' ability to recruit additional distributors. In order to cut costs and increase their reach they made the decision to web-enable the application.

Why Curl?

The Curl Rich Internet Application platform provided the necessary features to support the complex ordering process while not compromising the ease of use of the existing client-server application.

The application had to handle as many as 99 different pricing scenarios with various sizes and patterns and large data sets with up to 5000 transactions and just under 10,000 items per transaction.

New configurations are constantly being created and now each access to the web-enabled application means the new pricing and configuration models are immediately deployed.

The Curl solution was implemented by NTT Data Business Brains Corp and is offered as a hosted application (SaaS). This allows distributors to make quotes from anywhere and has drastically reduced Nippon Sheet Glass' system and implementation costs.
