Privacy Policy

Your privacy, and the privacy of all Curl, Inc. users is important to us. Accordingly, we have adopted the following privacy policy to keep you informed about our information handling practices. This policy tells you, among other things, what information we gather from you, how we may use or disclose that information, and our efforts to protect it. Types of Information Collected

When you register to use our Web site, we ask for and store the information supplied in the registration process including your name, address, email address and other identifying contact data. In addition to this initial registration, we may ask you to fill out surveys and questionnaires in order to access certain portions of the Web site, to obtain advance releases and updates of our products, or to participate in promotions or contests. Finally, we may keep records of your interactions with our customer service department and records of any transactions made on the Web site.

Beyond this personally identifiable information, Curl, Inc. keeps track of your use of our Web site. So, for example, each time you visit our Web site, we record the IP address you are using to access the Web site as well as the dates and times of your visit and other non-personally identifiable information about the interaction of your computer with our Web site. In addition, we record the pages within our Web site that you visit and the amount of time you spend on those pages.

Use and Disclosure of Information

We use the personally identifiable information you provide in order to gain a better sense of who is using our Web site and our products, and to improve and some day personalize those offerings. We may also use the contact information you provide in order to alert you to new features on the Web site, new products, and/or upcoming events. The information we gather on your use of our Web site lets us track overall Web site traffic patterns (such as how many first-time guests visited a specific Web page on a particular day) and helps us improve our Web site and services. It is also used for administrative purposes including, for example, to enforce our terms of use agreement, and to verify transactions.

Except when Curl, Inc. reasonably believes disclosure is required by law or is necessary to protect its rights or the safety of others, it will not disclose any of the personally identifiable information you provide without your explicit consent. We may combine your personally identifying information, and information about your preferences and activities, with those of all or a particular group of our users to prepare collective profiles of our users and their activities. For example, we might track the number of our users who view certain pages or use certain features or compile the total dollar amount of sales conducted through our Web site in a particular geographic region. We might also disclose general aggregated demographic information to a potential advertiser - for example, half of our users are males between 25 and 35 years of age. These types of disclosures allow us to build partnerships, attract new business, investment, and advertisers. Such disclosures, however, will not reveal the identities of an individual user, nor any other personally identifiable information about that user. Finally, Curl, Inc. reserves the right to transfer any information it has collected through its Web site in connection with the sale of all or substantially all of its assets, or in connection with a corporate acquisition or merger.

A Few Words on Cookies

Cookies are used by some Web sites to save information on your individual preferences and Web site usage in order to personalize Web pages and content for greater convenience. Advertisers on Web sites also send cookies to better target advertising. Curl, Inc. currently does not have such advertisers on its Web site. If, in the future, we do support this type of advertising, we will revise this privacy policy to reflect that change and keep you up-to-date on the use of cookies. Most Web browsers (such as later versions of Netscape browser software and Microsoft Internet Explorer) can be set to refuse cookies from Web sites. You're free to choose this option when visiting our Web site, though it may prevent you from taking advantage of certain Web site features if and when we provide content personalization. Declining cookies won't have any effect on your use of our Web site in its current form. In any case, please do what makes you feel most comfortable.

Areas powered by third parties

Curl, Inc. may offer user services or features that are delivered by third parties (for example, a credit card transaction feature provided by an on-line credit verification service), in which personal information you submit is covered by third-party privacy guidelines different from ours. In such cases, we'll post clear notices to alert you and identify the third party who is handling the transaction. If you're not comfortable with their privacy guidelines or for any other reason, you'll always have the choice not to use those features or services.

Opting Out of Emails

You may request that Curl, Inc. remove you from the mailing list it uses to send out promotional and informational messages about our products and events by sending an email message to webmaster@curl.com. Please note, however, that even if you request removal from this mailing list, Curl, Inc. reserves the right to send you important messages about your account or changes to our Web site.

Updating or Deleting your Registration Information

At any time after you have registered on to our Web site, you may contact us at webmaster@curl.com to request access to the information you supplied during the registration process for our Web site, to notify us of changes to such information, or to request deletion of that information. If you request changes or deletion, we may contact you by email or fax to confirm your request before it is honored. In addition, we will not be able to honor requests for deletion of information where the information is necessary to the enforcement of agreements between you and Curl, Inc.

Security

We use industry-standard encryption methods to transmit your personal registration information from your computer to ours across the Internet, and we restrict access to any transactional portions of our Web site to computers running Web browsers that support Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

Please remember that you play a valuable part in security as well. Curl, Inc. may assign you a password to access portions of our Web site. Any password that is assigned to you should never be shared with anyone. And, after you have finished using our Web site, you should log off and exit your browser so no unauthorized persons can use our Web site with your name and account information. Remember that any information you voluntarily disclose online in any news or message postings, discussion groups or chat rooms may be collected and used by others without your permission. Curl, Inc. and its employees who have access to your personally identifying information, both online and on other forms of media, will use the same degree of care with your personally identifying information as we use to protect our own confidential information, but in no event less than a reasonable degree of care.

Regardless of the precautions taken by you or by us, "perfect security" does not exist on the Internet. We cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you transmit such information at your own risk.

Amendments to this Policy

The Curl, Inc. Privacy Policy applies to the use of our Web site only. We will also update this Web site policy from time to time, so it's a good idea to check back here periodically. In the end, it's every Web site user's responsibility to stay informed on the privacy policies in effect at any Web site visited, and we'll do our part by posting the updated policies here and noting the date of the last revision. That way, you'll always be able to know if the policy has been altered since your last visit. If at any time we intend to modify our policy concerning disclosure of personally identifiable information, we will alert via electronic mail at least thirty (30) days before any modifications take effect, and give you the opportunity to modify or delete any personally identifiable information.
